Angel Shark

Order: Squatiniformes.

Features: Small spines from head to tail.

Habitat: A shark from temperate sea beds of Europe, from the coast to depths of 150 meters.  Prefers muddy or sandy bottoms, where it lies with only its eyes showing above the mud.  Nocturnal activity.  Sleeps on sea bed during day.  Penetrates farther north in summer.

Reproduction: Ovoviviparous.

Food: Bony fish, skates/rays and other flatfish, crustaceans and mollusks.

Maximum Size: 1.83 to 2.44 meters.
